What is an administrative release?

An administrative release is the release of a prisoner prior to the exact date of release that was determined in the imprisonment order that was issued by the court.

The purpose of the administrative release is to enable less crowded prisons.

An administrative release occurs when the occupancy of prisoners at the prisons is higher than the standard number.

The period of the administrative release is cut from the full sentence or from two thirds of the sentence (if a release board had decided that the prisoner shall be released at the end of two thirds of his sentence) and is a function for the length of the full sentence and specified in the first addition to the Prisons Order.

The administrative release is performed between Sun-Tue, and on Friday there are no administrative releases.
